League fixture.
Halloween Horror
The spirits were amongst us at Finstock on Saturday as the Mills lost in a high scoring thriller.
It could not have started worst for the Mills as from the kick off (which we took), we managed to concede a goal within the first few seconds. Rocked by this early set back, the Mills came back in to it, Keiron had a shot saved and later hit the post from long range. Mills had more of the play, forcing a few corners and long throws but Finstock were dangerous on the break. Sure enough, Finstock broke again and it was 2-0, despite the goalscorer winding himself when chesting the ball in.
There was some soul searching at half time and we came out strongly in the second half. Mev lobbed the keeper with one of the highest lobs since Wimbledon and then soon after equalised with a fine low finish. We were back level within 5 minutes of the restart. For some reason we lost our way again and started to invite Finstock on to us. Lee, feeling generous, tripped the Finstock winger for a penalty which Pants nearly saved but we were behind.
The rest of the match was end-to-end with both sides having a lot of opportunities to score. Dunc went close from a couple of corners and we had many shots and crosses, causing their keeper to flap. Finstock scored two goals (including an own goal from Timmsy, good finish) to make it 5-2 before a late comedy own goal got it back to 5-3. Still we had chances but it was not to be our day.
5-3 looks bad, but in terms of chances and possession it was very even and it could have been any score really. A win is just round the corner.
