30 January 2010 - Away
League fixture.
Duck Soup
Well, I'm not sure what happened over Christmas but the Mills came out of the Winter Break a new team. In a fine performance, Mills passed their way to a comfortable 6-0 win on a frozen pitch which was just playable.
Before the first goal went in, we had missed several chances but Mev eventually notched, lifting the ball over the advancing keeper. Shortly after, the keeper was lobbed again by Warren after good work from Mev & Tim. Just to confirm our superiority, Lee scored from the spot after their defender handballed in the area.
Three nil at half time was a fair reflection but the manager was still not happy, with an aggressive team talk, perhaps the cold had got to him...The second half started with some Duck pressure but the defence held firm and it wasn't long before we added a fourth, thanks to a fine finish from supersub Charlie with his first touch. Earlier, Rob had been denied a goal after Mev took the ball off him in an offside position.
Charlie added a second with a great header from a fine cross from Warren (best goal of the game) before Warren finished the scoring. It should not have been the end of the scoring as chances went begging for both sides, including an air shot from Claro 10 yards out which left him on his backside, much to amusement of, well, everybody, but especially the crowd.
Great performance and a great start to 2010, lets hope for more of the same from now on.
